Eye care tips

The good news is you can wear make-up all season and not feel ‘made up’. The bad news, if you don’t know how to apply make-up, is that you can end up looking like the odd one out. Every season has new colors and new make up techniques. Every season brings a change and this season too, make-up has something new in textures and applications

The good news is you can wear make-up all season and not feel ‘made up’. The bad news, if you don’t know how to apply make-up, is that you can end up looking like the odd one out. Every season has new colors and new make up techniques. Every season brings a change and this season too, make-up has something new in textures and applications.

The rage has been the dark smoky eye. However, for fall, play down the dramatic effect and go soft, retaining the smoky look. Pastels shades in pinks, blues, greens and lilacs are in vogue with a soft, sheer water color effect.

Apply sheers round your whole eye, both under lashes and on the eyelid. Complete with a coat of mascara and you are ready for this season.

Make your eyes look softer with eye shadow instead of pencil. It will give a blended effect. Eyeliner can be too harsh and dark for summer.

Use only one color to play down the look and thus enhance a more natural yet fresh, seasonal look. Choose eye shadows specially formulated for sun.

If you apply a substantial amount of eyeshadow during the day, you don’t have to re-apply it all day. Work around the crease well & eye make-up can stay all day.

Allow the eyeshadow to emphasise your eyes. Keep it soft and light, and you will not have to touch it up often.

For the evening, apply a shade darker. You can even get away with a little purple or orange if applied right. Use a base color all over the eyelid and run the same shadow under the eyes with a baby bud. No liner, instead coat with enough mascara.

At night, accentuate the same look by adding shimmer to the eyeshadow, highlight the brow, use more shadow under the eyes or use a darker color around the top corners to dress it up a little bit for the evening. Apply eye make-up with a sponge applicator and then go over it with a blending brush. It stays on better.

Colour Tips
Matte colours are in for the eyes with navy blue, brown, green, lilac, pink and tangerine. Nudes for the day and experiment a bit at night with colours like blue, yellow, pink and lilac, but stick to one shade. It is easier to use a warm neutral color for the day that will add just that extra shimmer to the eye.

Stick to the beige or gold. Stay away from blacks, reds, charcoals and greys.
